Boxhill

From the Vintage Collection

Tones: Cream, Parchment, Warm Gray, Charcoal, Buttermilk

Why We Love It:  Boxhill by British painter Samuel Palmer features graphite on slightly textured, brown woven paper overlaid with gray, green and brown washes.

About The Artist:  Artist Samuel Palmer was an early 19th century painter in London. Comfortable working in a variety of different media, Palmer ultimately shifted from working in oils to watercolors as the medium was gaining in popularity. His visionary style was heavily influenced by his mentor, the artist and poet William Blake. Palmer was also known to teach private lessons to aspiring artists. This piece is now part of the Yale Center for British Art in Connecticut. See here for more information on Juniper's Vintage collection.
